Paula says that critters have followed her home all her life and they’ve always been a big part of her life. They have given her so much.  She feels that now is the time to try and return the favor. Paula believes she is finally doing what she was always meant to do and the critters are STILL giving her more then she feels able to give back. Each and every animal takes a bit of her heart but gives back tenfold. Paula feels the animals shame her in the way they forgive, forget, and are always ready to love again. They amaze her!

Jeff remembers having pets as a kid which he enjoyed. But when he met his wife, Paula, and she said, "Love me, love my kids and love my pets," he had NO idea what he was getting into. Helping unwanted and abandoned pets is something he never knew he would be doing but it has become a very big part of his life.

Tonda Lewis works in Harrisburg, and lives in the Millerstown area with her husband, 9 cats, 7 horses, 4 German Shepherd/mixes and whatever foster(s) happen in. She has volunteered with PCoAR since January 2011.

Laura grew up around animals. She can't imagine her life without a dog or a cat. She currently lives with her 3 dogs; Ham, Cheese and Kaisa, 5 cats; Willy, Wonka, Wyatt, Benny and Squishy and a ball python. She believes she will forever follow in her parents' footsteps, helping homeless pets.

Shannon Hines has been a lifelong resident of Perry County as well as an animal lover.  She currently has a horse, a pomeranian, guineas, and many chickens.  Shannon has been volunteering at the Rescue for over 3 years.  She enjoys walking and playing with all the animals at the Rescue.

Ashley is a lifetime dog lover who never ceases to be amazed by the spirit these animals possess. For her, nothing is better than coming home from a long day at work and seeing that tail wagging in excitement! Ashley thinks every dog and person should get to experience that feeling and what better way to help both animal and human find their best friend then by volunteering at The Perry County Animal Rescue!

Krista Donbaugh, along with her family, has volunteered for PCoAR for the last year and she joined the organization as a board member in the fall of 2011.  Krista, owner of three rescued dogs (Cooper, Min and Gretel), has been an avid supporter of animal organizations including her time volunteering with Susquehanna Service Dogs as a puppy raiser (1996-2002).

Sue (Stine) Miller is retired from the Commonwealth’s Juvenile Court Judges’ Commission, co-owns The Jewel Box Jewelry & Repairs, and was the first VP of PCoAR.  Sue and her husband, Mike are “dog mom & dad” to Niki, a German Shepherd mix from a NC rescue and Chester, a Beagle mix from PCoAR.  Chester is an unofficial therapy dog to a local shut-in.
